THE CAGEY CANARY - MERRIE MELODIES - 1941-11-22, 1947-10-11 - Planned for Avery (who left after the Heckling Hare debacle), but finished by Clampett. As you can see, neither are credited.

RHAPSODY IN RIVETS - MERRIE MELODIES - 1941-12-06, 1947-08-17, 1954-09-11 - Notable for containing the sole credit for the "Vitaphone Symphony Orchestra." An original title cel exists in Michael Maltese's personal collection, which is being housed by the University of Wyoming. Academy Award nominee.

DR. SEUSS' HORTON HATCHES THE EGG - MERRIE MELODIES - 1942-04-11, 1949-06-18 - SUPERVISION...ROBERT CLAMPETT - Notable for being the longest Warner Bros. cartoon ever made, clocking in at around 10 minutes.

THE SQUAWKIN' HAWK - MERRIE MELODIES - 1942-08-08, 1948-07-10 - SUPERVISION...CHARLES JONES - First appearance of Henery Hawk. An original title cel exists in Michael Maltese's personal collection in rather poor condition, which is being housed by the University of Wyoming.

THE SHEEPISH WOLF - MERRIE MELODIES - 1942-10-17, 1950-03-04 - SUPERVISION...I. FRELENG - Allegedly, this short is what inspired Chuck Jones to make his "Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog" cartoons years later. An original title cel exists in Michael Maltese's personal collection, which is being housed by the University of Wyoming.

MY FAVORITE DUCK - LOONEY TUNES - 1942-12-05, 1950-01-28 - SUPERVISION...CHARLES M. JONES - The very first Porky and Daffy outing in Technicolor. An original title cel exists in Michael Maltese's personal collection, which is being housed by the University of Wyoming.

THE FIFTH-COLUMN MOUSE - MERRIE MELODIES - 1943-03-06, 1950-01-28 (as just FIFTH COLUMN MOUSE) - SUPERVISION...I. FRELENG - In the original 1943 release, a line was sung during the opening number--"Ain't We Got Fun?"--that goes "Down with the Axis, we're all glad to pay our taxes!" It is intact on the Columbia House VHS tapes. Listen to it here.

FLOP GOES THE WEASEL - MERRIE MELODIES- 1943-03-20, 1949-05-21 - DIRECTION...CHARLES M. JONES- Has an unofficial record for the most times the word "mammy" is uttered in a cartoon--37 times. An original title cel exists in Michael Maltese's personal collection, which is being housed by the University of Wyoming.

THE UNBEARABLE BEAR - MERRIE MELODIES- 1943-04-17, 1950-12-09 - DIRECTION...CHARLES M. JONES- The first Warner Bros. cartoon to feature the voice of June Foray, as well as a change in style for the Sniffles cartoons. This point onward, the cartoons are more comedic, making Sniffles into an obnoxious motormouth. FROM HAND TO MOUSE - LOONEY TUNES - 1944-08-05, 1952-02-09 - DIRECTION...CHARLES M. JONES - Ray Patin's only credit during his time at Warner Bros. TALE OF TWO MICE - LOONEY TUNES - 1945-06-30, 1949-01-10 - DIRECTION...FRANK TASHLIN (uncredited) - First cartoon where Babbit and Catstello are portrayed as mice.

PECK UP YOUR TROUBLES - MERRIE MELODIES - 1945-10-20, 1951-03-24 - DIRECTION...I. FRELENG - The first appearance of Hector the Bulldog. Also notable because Eddie Selzer originally wanted Freleng to reuse the woodpecker from this short as Sylvester's foil, but Freleng wanted to use Bob Clampett's Tweety character instead. Reportedly, Freleng got so mad that he slammed a pencil and a pad of paper on Selzer's desk, and said something to the effect of "if you know so much about animation, why don't you do the work instead?" Selzer apologised, and Tweetie Pie was indeed made, winning the studio its first Academy Award. An original title cel exists in Michael Maltese's personal collection, which is being housed by the University of Wyoming.

OF THEE I STING - LOONEY TUNES - 1946-08-17, 1952-01-12 - DIRECTION...I. FRELENG - A black and white print with original titles was spotted on eBay in January 2022. The same print also reveals this one has an interesting ring variant--the WB shield stays onscreen, not fading out once the Looney Tunes logo fades in.
